If the Chinese stock markets cannot deliver outstanding returns during periods of outstanding growth, stability, and profits, how will they do in average times or bad times?

To some extent we can conclude that Chinese markets are not set up for the same purposes as U.S. markets. That is, profits do not flow to shareholders without being diverted into a few other priorities.

Unless and until the Evergrande issue is sorted out, I'd not give a single cent to that country.

I was recently looking into this as well. But I'd be very cautious. Check this: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/02/sec-issues-final-regs-that-allow-it-to-delist-foreign-companies-that-dont-comply-with-audit-rules.html The tl;dr is that the U.S. wants companies listed on its exchanges to be audited and have the audits be transparent, but China regards these audits to be state secrets. That's a fundamentally different view of what audits should be.

I see no way out of this fundamental issue unless either country relents. I already sold all shares of U.S. listed Chinese companies.

@twentysomething Agree. I wouldn't touch that country with a ten-foot pole. Accounting standards would be one reason. And I don't trust commies.
